During the afternoon of this Wednesday, October 2, the port of Progreso was surprised by the intense rain that started around 3:30 in the afternoon and stopped until shortly after 6 in the afternoon.
For more than two hours, the rain intensified on several occasions, causing major flooding in various parts of the city.
Through social media, they reported various situations that arose due to the large amount of water that fell this afternoon in the streets of the port.
On 33rd and 20th Street in the Revolución neighborhood, almost behind the San Pedro ranch, they reported that the strong winds dragged a water tank halfway down the street without them knowing exactly where it was dragged from.
Another point that was affected was 35th Street in front of the 20 de Noviembre field, an area that every time it rains ends up flooded where the parked vehicles cover almost half of it making circulation on said street difficult.
Likewise, 80th Street and 78th Street, which are used to enter and exit from the center of Progreso towards the Mérida-Progreso highway, presented a high amount of water that made it impossible for pedestrians to travel there, and vehicles also had difficulty moving circularly.
Curiously, it caught our attention that a young man shared a video on his social networks in which he could see how the water level increased so much in the neighborhood where he lives that he could even navigate along it using a kayak.
