During the launch of the patching work in the Juan Pablo II subdivision, Mayor Cecilia Patrón Laviada indicated that by the end of November, there should not be a single pothole in Mérida, for which she will request an extra 15 million pesos from the Cabildo to address the problem.
Accompanied by neighbors and Sergio Chan Lugo, director of Public Works, she pointed out that days ago, the ruling was made for a public tender for 7.5 million pesos to address the problem of patching, an amount that was divided into three to address the same number of areas of the city, being zone 8 where the work began this Friday.
“We are here today, which is sector 8, and we are going to be serving Juan Pablo II, Xoclán, Mulsay, Bojórquez, Nora Quintana, the entire western part of the city, and yesterday we were in San Antonio Xluch, in the south and, and tomorrow, Saturday, we will start in the south-east,” the municipal president explained to residents of the area.
Patron Laviada added that these actions to combat the problem of the potholes are reinforced, “which we know is a lot, but we are working every day without rest, and today I want to thank the entire Public Works management, the guys from Vias Terrestres, to the entire team that works tirelessly.
Aware that potholes are a constant report made by residents of Merida and the need to solve the problem is urgent, the mayor announced that next week he will ask the Cabildo for a budget increase of 15 million pesos to meet the demand, at the end of November there will not be a single pothole left. “It is a need that the people of Merida ask for the most today and we are committed to them. “We are going to continue working and investing public resources to continue with the issue of potholes, but we are not only potholing, we are repaving streets in several areas in the south of the city,” she indicated.
