With the aim of improving the quality of services offered at important tourist and cultural sites, the new head of the Board of Trustees of Cultural and Tourist Services Units (Cultur), Clemente Escalante Alcocer, announced that the first step in the work will be an exhaustive diagnosis in all the areas under his administration.
He expects that each visitor, both local and foreign, will enjoy a safe, accessible, and top-quality environment.
He announced that he had already begun visits to the service units managed by Cultur and highlighted the importance of working in collaboration with all the parties involved.
He added that among the key areas to be evaluated are the archaeological zones of Chichén Itzá, Uxmal, and Dzibilchaltún, considered the gateways to Mayan culture, not only for Mexico but for the entire world.
In addition, other points such as caves, craft markets, and nature reserves will be reviewed, as well as emblematic cultural spaces, such as Pasaje Picheta and Downtown Izamal. He clarified that in some cases difficulties have been detected that have prevented certain places, such as Dzibilchaltún and Lol-Tun, from offering full services or even remaining open. However, Escalante Alcocer assured that these cases will be thoroughly reviewed to provide a solution to the extent possible.
