In a broad operation deployed in Mérida by State Investigative Police (PEI) agents of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), “El Skinny”, a criminal extortion leader in Quintana, was arrested in Mérida.

The operation was carried out in collaboration with their counterparts in Quintana Roo, and it resulted in the capture of this man and two other women, all linked to a criminal gang in that state, involved in the crimes of homicide, extortion, and drug dealing.

The detainees are Zacarías G. G. alias “El Skinny”, Brenda Estefanía C. U., and Mariana Guadalupe U. M.

“El Skinny” is identified as the leader of the criminal group that operates in the municipality of Benito Juárez, Quintana Roo, specifically in the area of Kukulkan Boulevard and on the beaches of Cancún.

Meanwhile, his alleged romantic partners, Brenda Estefanía and Mariana Guadalupe, are holders of bank cards on which the money from extortion was deposited, a crime for which they have arrest warrants.

The action of the Yucatecan authorities that led to the location and capture of these people ratifies the commitment to society that crimes do not go unpunished and that those who commit crimes in other states and take refuge in Yucatán will be pursued by the law and made available to the corresponding authorities.

Zacarías “N” was one of the priority objectives of the Crime Atlas of Mexico, with at least three arrest warrants for qualified homicide in Cancún.

The crimes committed between May and October of this year on Kukulcán Boulevard included the murder of a minor and two other men.

In addition, the criminal group is related to extortion and drug dealing in Benito Juárez.

After their capture, Zacarías and his accomplices were transferred to a prison in Quintana Roo, where they will await trial.

It is expected that in the coming days, their legal situation will be defined, while investigations continue to completely dismantle the criminal structure they headed.
