On Thursday, October 17, a large mobilization of police officers, firefighters, and paramedics was observed in the area near a bank tower on the corner of Prol. Paseo de Montejo and Avenida Cámara de Comercio, due to a fire, with no injuries reported.

An intense mobilization of emergency and security personnel was recorded after the report of a fire on the fifth floor of the bank tower, located on the corner of both avenues.

According to the report, smoke was observed coming out of the indicated floor, which alerted the personnel on site, who managed to control the situation immediately.

Following the security protocol, the personnel from the Fire Department and the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) completely evacuated the building and the personnel working in that place were placed in a safe area, several meters away.

The employees said they smelled an “unpleasant” smell, like gas or burnt plastic, and asked the security staff what was happening. They were told that it was a compressor that had already been turned off. However, another employee went up to the fifth floor and saw a fire in the building. He immediately told his colleagues and they began to leave the building.

The incident occurred on the fifth floor, apparently due to a short circuit, but it was controlled.

The smoke generated spread to other floors of the building.

Due to security protocols, the building was evacuated and the vehicles that were parked in the surroundings were removed.

The authorities verified that there is no longer any risk situation so that the staff can return to their work.
