A gas tank explosion in a construction area of ​​the exclusive Rosewood Mayakoba hotel left at least one casualty and four workers seriously injured.

PLAYA DEL CARMEN, QUINTANA ROO.- The incident occurred on Monday, September 30th, on Loba de Mar Street, where a loud bang was heard.

Civil Protection agents and firefighters went to the scene to verify the report and found five injured people, three of them seriously. It was later announced that one of the victims had died.

Paramedics transferred the injured to the IMSS hospital since they had burns that put their lives at risk.

The area was cordoned off and delimited while the pertinent inquiries were carried out.

According to the first investigations, the explosion was due to a gas leak that caused the terrible accident.
