This network united to develop regenerative tourism projects, has as its main objective the conservation of a biological corridor in the region.

During the event, the importance of coordinating efforts with civil associations, federal government agencies, and universities was highlighted. The purpose is to ensure the viability of ecotourism projects in the southern part of the municipality.

The entities involved in this effort include the Secretariat of Tourism of Quintana Roo (Sedetur), the Secretariat of Environmental Protection (Semarnat), the Kanché Civil Association, the Technological University of Cancún and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

Although there is not yet a determined number of projects, proposals that promote regenerative, sustainable tourism aligned with the characteristics of the region are being evaluated.

The municipal president, Nivardo Mena Villanueva, stressed that these projects will not only boost the economy of local families but will also contribute to preserving the natural and cultural wealth of the region.

With the development of regenerative tourism projects, we seek to establish a sustainable hiking model that respects and strengthens the uses and customs of the communities while promoting the protection of the natural environment.
