As part of the program “Mayor at Your School”, Cecilia Patron visits high school students that belong to the Unidad Académica de Bachillerato con Interacción Comunitaria (UABIC) precisely to trigger that Interaction and consider their proposals as part of the Municipal Development Plan.
In this new way of governing, young people will be part of the city’s decisions by putting their talents and abilities into practice.
In this permanent exercise of listening and closeness, the Municipal President of Mérida, Cecilia Patrón Laviada, visited students from the Unidad Académica de Bachillerato con Interacción Comunitaria UABIC (Academic Unit of High School with Community Interaction), to exchange proposals and ideas that could have a positive impact on youth in collaboration with the municipal administration.
“I have always believed in young people, I believe in their talent, I believe in their ability and that is why I am here to listen to them because who better to say what young people need than the young people themselves and in that sense we will team up so that they do well,” said the Mayor.
Cecilia Patron stressed that this listening exercise with “Mayor in your School” will serve to address the main needs that concern them, as well as the proposals that can be included in the public policies of the City Council and that positively impact the development of the new generations.
“Today we are building the foundations of the future of Mérida that we all need, if we work as a team, we will be able to make the best decisions for the future,” she continued.
Among the main topics addressed by the students of this academic unit are attention to mental health in situations such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and smoking. In addition to supporting educational professionalization, improvements to security, and more public spaces for sports and community coexistence.
“In me, you have an ally to work on those things that matter to you. We need each one of you, your voice, your talent, your ability to make Mérida the coolest of all cities,” concluded the Mayor.
