To learn about the situation of the markets and propose solutions to improve their operation, a supervisory visit was made to Lucas de Galvez, San Benito, and Santa Ana to talk with vendors and users and listen to their concerns.

“We are fulfilling the request of Mayor Cecilia Patrón to listen to basic needs and address them immediately,” said Dafne López Osorio, Deputy Director of Markets.

The general coordinators Lizbeth Beatriz Basto Avilés, of Good Government and Flora Helena Zapata Mendiolea of Social Justice and Human Development, attended the tour.

In a new way of governing, vendors need to set their priorities and adjust them to the daily work of cleaning, waste management, and maintenance that allow customers and vendors to carry out their activities in clean and safe spaces.

“At City Hall, working together is the key, society, and public servants, with daily and constant actions to guarantee better services, and in the case of the markets we are surveying the state in which they are to continue improving,” stressed Dafne López.

The markets of Mérida are the best place to supply homes, safe and with good prices, and little by little the infrastructure and the conditions of the buildings will improve.

“As for infrastructure, what is missing, floors, paint, roof repair, and everything that arises will be attended to immediately,” she added.

In the Santa Ana market, personnel from the Subdirectorate went to inspect the facilities, detecting some leaks in the roofs of the tenants. A strip of sheet metal will be installed on the site to prevent rainwater from entering through the vents that allow the passage of air into this market.
