The project is thus emerging as a great opportunity to diversify the tourist offer in the south of the state, traditionally less developed than the areas of Cancun and Riviera Maya.
The Royal Caribbean shipping company announced that it will invest 600 million dollars (about 548 million euros) in a tourist project together with the government of Quintana Roo in Mexico, which is expected to generate some 3,000 jobs.
Its construction is expected to be completed in 2027. The project includes a connection with the Mayan Train, as well as a self-supply system for drinking water that will use reverse osmosis technology.
The new project called Perfect Day Mexico will be located in Mahahual (Quintana Roo), one of the least-known beaches in the Mexican Caribbean state. The project is thus emerging as a great opportunity to diversify the tourist offer in the south of the state, traditionally less developed than the areas of Cancun and Riviera Maya.
The cruise line is confident that this new experience will attract millions of visitors to Mexico, complementing the destination’s offering, just as Perfect Day at CocoCay has done in the Bahamas since 2019.

This unique destination joins the increasingly wide range of land-based destinations offered by Royal Caribbean. These include Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Beach Club Paradise Island, and Royal Beach Club Cozumel, the latter of which is scheduled to open in 2026.
This exclusive space for the cruise line will occupy approximately 90 hectares in Mahahual and more than half will be reserved for environmental protection. In addition, they plan to implement a water treatment plant, like the one at CocoCay, given the impact generated by receiving 5 million people each year.
Perfect Day Mexico will offer numerous attractions for its passengers, such as a water park and swimming pools. In addition, to make it easier to get there, the construction of a new passenger transportation center was also announced, with buses, taxis, and local operators.
This ambitious project also includes the expansion of the Costa Maya Port with the addition of two new docking positions, which will allow it to receive the largest cruise ships in the world.
