The tragic events occurred near the Riu Palace Hotel, in the middle of Cancun´s Hotel Zone.
A strong mobilization of the three levels of government was registered on Wednesday, October 2nd, in the hotel zone of Cancun, after a young man was shot dead right on the beach area, in front of the Riu Palace Hotel.
Around noon, the operators of the 911 emergency number received several reports of gunshots on the beach, at kilometer 8.5 of Kukulcán Boulevard.
Agents of the Tourist Police arrived first at the scene and found a man of approximately 30 years old lying on the sand with gunshot wounds. They immediately requested an ambulance. However, when the paramedics arrived, the man no longer had vital signs.
The paramedics covered the body with a blue surgical blanket while they waited for the arrival of the Ministerial Police agents and the forensic experts, who will be in charge of beginning the investigations and collecting the body. After this, they will transfer it to the Forensic Medical Service for the corresponding autopsy.
Preliminary information has emerged that one of the alleged perpetrators ran through the beach area towards the Dreams Hotel, wearing a black shirt and dark-colored Bermuda shorts. The authorities are currently reviewing the nearby security cameras to obtain more details about his identity and whereabouts.
