State government announces that Hurricane Milton is moving away from the Yucatan Peninsula

On Tuesday, October 8, 2024, an official statement from the Yucatan state government said that Hurricane Milton was already moving away from Yucatecan territory.

At 06:00 hours today, Tuesday, October 8, Hurricane Milton, Category 4, was located 120 km northwest of Rio Lagartos and 165 km northeast of Progreso, Yucatan.

It is moving east-northeast at 19 km/h with winds of 230 km/h and higher gusts.

It is expected to continue gradually recurving to the northeast, and by midday, it could be located about 100 km north of Rio Lagartos.
