During the afternoon of Friday, October 11, bad news saddened the Yucatecan society which was waiting for the fishermen who got lost after the passage of Hurricane Milton.

Firstly, through unofficial sources, it was learned that the ship “Halcón 1” was found overturned near Río Lagartos, without the exact position of the ship being yet known.

As the hours passed, the news also reached the La Caleta fishing shelter, where relatives of the crew of this boat remained on guard waiting for any news.

However, the sad news took them by surprise, which caused some fainting among some of those present who had to be treated by paramedics.

Four fishermen were traveling on the boat “Halcón 1”: José Luis Junco Hernández, as skipper, Aristeo Abreu Ulloa, Javier Francisco Hernández López, and Jesús Manuel García Brito.

As the minutes passed, a video of the mayor of the municipality of Sabancuy, Campeche, Angélica Herrera Canul, emerged on social networks, in which she said that the Secretary of the Navy (Semar) had confirmed the discovery of the overturned boat and without any trace of the crew members.

It should be noted that the majority of the fishermen who were on board the boats named Peyucsa 12 and 13, as well as the Halcón 1, are originally from Sabancuy. For the moment, the families have refused to give statements.
