Yucatan and France strengthen cooperation relationship

Yucatan Governor Joaquin “Huacho” Diaz Mena meets with French Ambassador Delphine Borione.

Accompanied by the French Ambassador to Mexico, Delphine Borione, Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena visited the Polytechnic University of Yucatán (UPY) to learn about the capabilities and areas of opportunity that this educational institution has, to continue to promote the conditions and tools for a future with more and better development for young Yucatecans.

Together with the Ambassador in Mexico of the Alliance Industry of the Future France, Alfred Rodríguez, and the rector of the UPY, Raúl Aarón Rosado Castillo, Díaz Mena toured the facilities and modern laboratories that make up this campus, where an enrollment of 690 students is prepared, most of them from the interior of the state, in specialized careers in industry 4.0 technologies.

The Governor also visited the Robotics Laboratory, which specialized in artificial intelligence, advanced electronics, and robotic systems, where he heard about the projects that students are working on as part of the curriculum, verified the operation of the Innovation Laboratory, and toured the Cybersecurity Laboratory, where specialists are trained for research and innovation in the detection and response to digital threats.

Moments before, the Governor and the French diplomat held a meeting in which it was agreed to strengthen the cooperative relationship, in order to promote the necessary conditions for young Yucatecans to contribute to the industrial, technological, and sustainable development of their state.

Díaz Mena pointed out that Yucatán and France are territories that share values ​​and objectives aimed at technological progress, quality education, and sustainable development, attributes that can have a positive impact on the families of the State, especially those with less.

For her part, the French ambassador to Mexico highlighted the importance of continuing to promote tools and infrastructure so that new generations of professionals have access to greater opportunities in the future.

The Governor was accompanied by the Honorary Consul of France in Yucatan, Mario Ancona Teigell, as well as the heads of the Secretariats of Education (Segey), Juan Enrique Balam Várguez; of Research, Innovation and Higher Education (Siies), Geovanna Campos Vázquez; and of Economic Development and Labor (Sefoet), Ermilo Barrera Novelo.

Later, the Governor held a meeting with the French Ambassador to Mexico, Delphine Borione, to sign the letter of intent between the state government and the Industry of the Future Alliance of the Gallic country, which strengthened the ties of friendship and cooperation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda.
