After receiving a report, the Uma Chan Aayin – Crocodile Farm association went to a cenote on the Colonia Yucatán – Kantunil highway to try to rescue a swamp crocodile.

According to the association, this discovery generated a mobilization since crocodiles do not usually inhabit open cenotes, especially those with drops over 3 meters high.

Upon arriving at the scene, the specialized team attempted to rescue the reptile to return it to its habitat. However, the conditions of the cenote and the animal’s size made the rescue impossible. Due to this situation, a second attempt will be necessary in the coming days.

A social media user said that, according to the townspeople, unknown people threw the specimen in the Cenote approximately six months ago.
