Canada’s WestJet begins operations at Tulum’s Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport: SEDETUR

Tulum, Quintana Roo.- Tulum’s Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport celebrated the arrival of the first international flights operated by the Canadian airline WestJet, marking a step forward in the history of the air terminal and tourism in the region, reported the State Secretariat of Tourism (SEDETUR).
At 12:53 hours on Saturday, November 9, the first direct flight from Toronto to Tulum landed, followed shortly after by the second flight from Calgary, which arrived at 3:30 p.m.
This is how the WestJet airline begins a new stage of international connectivity that promises to further strengthen the destination of Tulum, one of the main tourist centers of the Riviera Maya.

The arrival of WestJet at the Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport is a clear sign of Tulum’s growth as an international tourist destination. In less than a year, this air terminal has climbed to become the eighth most important airport in Mexico, an achievement that highlights the potential of the region and the importance that Tulum has in national and international air connectivity.
The state government intends for the Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport to be considered one of the most important in the country, attracting not only domestic flights but also high-level international connections.
“This is an important achievement for Tulum, which is consolidating itself as a first-rate global tourist destination. The arrival of WestJet not only increases the connectivity options for our international visitors but also opens new opportunities for economic development, employment, and the strengthening of local tourism infrastructure,” said the head of SEDETUR, Bernardo Cueto Riestra.
The Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport continues to expand its capabilities. It is an example of the comprehensive vision that Quintana Roo is implementing, with strategic investments and support for initiatives such as WestJet, which contribute to diversifying the tourist profile and attracting a greater number of international visitors.
