Maya Train and CONANP: United for the preservation of mangroves on the Campeche boardwalk
In an effort of commitment and teamwork, the Maya Train, in collaboration with the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (CONANP), led an outstanding clean-up day in the mangrove of the Campeche boardwalk.
This activity reinforces the Maya Train’s commitment to the protection of the environment and the promotion of sustainability in southeastern Mexico.
Starting at 8:50 a.m., participants arrived at the meeting point, ready to contribute to the conservation of one of the natural jewels of the region.
Before starting the activity, personalized kits were delivered that included caps, t-shirts, and ecological bags from the Maya Train, symbolizing the pride of being part of this collective effort.
Equipped with shovels, picks and garbage bags, the teams, organized in groups of five people, began cleaning at 9:00 a.m., dividing the waste into categories such as aluminum, plastic, PET, and glass, ensuring an efficient and conscious process.
The mangrove of the Campeche boardwalk, an essential ecosystem that extends for approximately 3.5 kilometers, is a natural lung and a vital refuge for numerous species. In addition, it acts as a barrier against floods and protects the coastline, highlighting its environmental and social importance, and is home to different plant and animal species.
During the day, the teams advanced along different sections of the boardwalk, covering large areas and demonstrating that joint effort can make a significant difference.
The need to preserve the mangroves was evident, and the organization of future contingents is already being considered to continue this initiative.
Campeche reaffirms its commitment to sustainability by safeguarding the natural environment that gives life to the Mexican southeast.
This activity also invites society to participate in the change towards a more sustainable future.
