Art and culture in their different expressions will be the premises of this cultural festival that for the first time reaches the southern communities of the state capital.
Mérida will be dressed in art and culture with the traditional Noche Blanca, which in its 18th edition extends for the first time to southern Mérida, offering a wide range of cultural and artistic activities, so that all the inhabitants of the city can enjoy the culture and pride in their identity,” said Municipal President Cecilia Patrón Laviada.
When officially presenting the schedule for the Eve and the Noche Blanca 2024, she announced that these events to be held on Friday, November 29 and Saturday, November 30 will feature 241 activities, the participation of 585 local and international artists, and 321 bazaar exhibitors.
In a press conference, Cecilia Patrón, accompanied by the director of Identity and Culture of the City of Mérida, Karla Berrón Cámara, mentioned that on this occasion the activities will extend beyond the Historic Center, reaching neighborhoods and police stations of the city so that citizens can unite and celebrate in community all the cultural wealth of Mérida.
In total, there will be 98 venues distributed in the four cardinal points of the city where events full of music, theater, painting and sculpture exhibitions, dance, literature, workshops, circus arts, fashion shows, visual arts, gastronomy, children’s shows, and the traditional Yucatecan trova will arrive.
“In this City Hall, we work with social justice, seeking a level playing field for all where we support and accompany the broad and vast local talent,” Cecilia Patron stated.
The cultural activities will reach neighborhoods such as Ciudad Caucel, the Cultural Center of the South (Centro Cultural del Sur), the Municipal Dance Center, and the Wallis Cultural Center. In addition, on the Eve of the Noche Blanca, the Galleries will join in with special tours along four thematic axes that include the emblematic neighborhoods of Ermita, Santiago, Santa Ana, and Paseo de Montejo, all the way down to the Itzimná neighborhood.
For this edition of La Noche Blanca, the City Council of Mérida will allocate 5 million pesos.
Finally, Cecilia invited citizens to go out into the streets and parks, enter the theaters and galleries, and enjoy this cultural festival that strengthens our identity and contributes to maintaining a united and participatory community.
