The City Council of Merida is promoting new strategies to strengthen the tourism industry in the state capital.
Airlines, hotel entrepreneurs, and restaurateurs participate in these strategies, and exhibitions in other cities are also included.
Armando Casares Espinosa, director of the Tourism Unit of the City Council of Merida, said that they are already in talks with the local airport and airlines such as Aeromexico to increase the frequency of flights and establish new routes, which would allow to increase the flow of passengers and extend the average stay in the city.
“We are working with the president of the Association of Hotels of Yucatan, Juan Martin, to maintain a stable hotel occupancy and for visitors to prolong their stay in Merida,” said Armando Casares.
The director of Tourism of Merida, Armando Casares Espinosa, highlighted the achievements made with recent events, highlighting the participation of tourists in emblematic sites of Merida such as San Juan, La Ermita, and the historic center.
“We are very pleased to see that the promotion is yielding results. The season is going very well, and we have had important events such as the Festival de las Ánimas, which has demonstrated the growing interest in Mérida as a tourist destination,” said Casares.
Finally, Armando Casares stated that the festivals scheduled for the end of the year, such as the Noche Blanca, and events in January, such as the Mérida City Marathon and the Mérida Fest, maintain a positive outlook for the sector.
