CANCUN, QUINTANA ROO (November 12, 2024).- This Tuesday, November 12th, Mexico celebrates Postman Day, a date that pays tribute to the more than 8,245 mail delivery workers who, with their efforts, travel 5,210,000 kilometers each month and move 114 tons of mail, messaging, and packages daily.
These professionals, essential to keeping Mexican society connected, fulfill an indispensable social function by ensuring that mail reaches its destination.
Since 1926, this day has been an occasion to recognize the work of the Mexican Postal Service (Sepomex).
Correos de México, which is part of this service, has 1,450 post offices and 15,222 mailboxes throughout the country, operating with 9,967 vehicles to deliver around 56 million pieces of mail per month.
Its service network reaches 12,340 locations, covering 97 percent of the Mexican population and extending its reach to 191 countries.
Postman Day is also a reminder of the challenges these workers face, such as extreme weather conditions and insecurity in some areas, but their dedication remains key to the country’s communications infrastructure.
