The City Council of Progreso and the State Government are working to quantify the damages on the Yucatan coast resulting from the passage of Hurricane “Milton”, but the city is practically at 90 percent, said Mayor Erik Rihani González.

He specified that they are taking charge of the damages to the infrastructure suffered in Chuburná, to find a solution.

Regarding the Chocolate and Chelem dock, it is a joint issue between the Administration of the National Port System (Asipona) Progreso, the State, and the municipality, but they are still working on it.

Regarding how much, more or less, the damages left by this hurricane amount to, he responded that these are varying, the damages to the summer houses, he indicated, that they had some isolated cases, such as a summer house in Chelém, which already had structural damage and ended up succumbing.

The Mayor explained that he could not give a date to begin work on the damage to the docks, since it coincides with a period of budget closure, and the investment is a little higher, he believes that it will be until next year when work will be done on this issue.

Erik Rihani concluded by pointing out that they are working hand in hand with the State Government and added that, at the end of the year, an annual work plan will be presented, which they will be working on together with the state authorities.
