Claudia Sheinbaum assured that the mega-project is a success, but stressed that it also needs to be a cargo train.
The federal government will allocate 48.7 billion pesos to build the infrastructure of the Maya Cargo Train.
During the morning press conference of President Claudia Sheinbaum, it was reported that the construction will consist of 10 cargo complexes, including 5 intermodal terminals, 4 operations yards, and a fuel unloading spur, distributed in the main cities that the Mayan Train runs through.
The objective is to boost the movement of goods throughout the Yucatan Peninsula.
The cities in which terminals, yards, and spurs will be built are:
- Poxilá.
- Progreso.
- Cancún.
- Chetumal.
- Palenque.
- Valladolid.
- Pomuch.
- Xpujil.
- Escárcega
- Tulum.
According to the “parametric budget: 48,744.39 MDP”. The direct jobs for the project will be 22,500.
