On Tuesday, November 26, the list of the 50 restaurants in Latin America of 2024 was announced, among which “Huniik” appears in Mérida.
The Argentine restaurant Don Julio (Buenos Aires) was chosen by Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants as the best restaurant in Latin America at a gala held in Rio de Janeiro.
In Mexico, the restaurant Quintonil, by chefs Jorge Vallejo and Alejandra Flores, in Mexico City, was positioned as the best restaurant in the country, and number 9 in the region.
Huniik means “unique soul” and is the name of Roberto Solís Azarcoya’s restaurant in the Historic Center of Mérida. It was ranked 36th.
The chef honed his skills and knowledge internationally at restaurants such as Noma in Copenhagen, Per Se in New York City, The Fat Duck in London, and Les Créations in Tokyo. In Mérida, he has Néctar, his first restaurant, which opened in 2003. Locally it is known for its “tacos de pastor negro“, a dish featured in the Netflix series “Taco Chronicles.”
