An airplane accident occurred near Cozumel International Airport, when a Cessna PA32 aircraft, registration XBIAS, crashed not far from the air terminal.

The incident, which was immediately attended to by local and federal authorities, did not leave any injuries. The aircraft was manned only by the pilot, who was unharmed and did not require medical attention, it was confirmed at the scene.

Agents of the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC), municipal police, Civil Protection, Firefighters, and the National Guard were mobilized to the site. They coordinated efforts to secure the area and respond to the report. Personnel from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) were also present, preparing the necessary technical reports to clarify the causes of the accident.

Although an ambulance was sent as a preventive measure, the pilot refused medical attention after confirming that he was in good health.

Investigations are continuing to determine the reasons that led to the aircraft’s accident. Local and federal authorities reiterated their commitment to guaranteeing safety in the region’s airspace.

This accident follows the one that occurred last July, when a RivArir plane, coming from Playa del Carmen, crashed in front of Casitas Beach on the island of Cozumel.
