The Governor of Yucatan, Joaquin Diaz Mena, announced the construction of the Tizimin 2 Wind Farm, with an investment of 2.6 billion pesos, which will consolidate the state as a benchmark in renewable energy.

“This investment not only represents another achievement for Yucatan but also symbolizes the confidence that investors have in our land, its people, and its future,” said the governor before businessmen and representatives of the energy sector.

The new park will increase the state’s energy capacity by 16%, allowing it to supply clean energy to more than 140 thousand Yucatecan homes.

Before Jaime de la Rosa Frigolet, director of Fuerza y Energía Limpia de Tizimin, and Jaime de la Rosa Montes, president of the Península de Energía Renovable Group, Diaz Mena stressed that this project reaffirms Yucatan’s commitment to sustainability and the well-being of its inhabitants.

The announcement, he added, is part of a time of “great transformations” and reflects the state’s alignment with the vision of the federal government. “President Claudia Sheinbaum has given a clear message since the beginning of her government: investment in infrastructure and sustainability is key to the future of Mexico,” he said.

With this work, Yucatán advances in its goal of becoming a national leader in renewable energy, laying the foundations for greener and more competitive growth. “This is a clear example that, when the government and the private sector work together, concrete actions are achieved that transform lives,” he said.

Díaz Mena highlighted that the development of this park will also have a direct impact on the local economy, since during its construction 320 direct jobs and 680 indirect jobs will be generated, benefiting the families of Tizimín and nearby communities, while boosting the economic growth of the region.

In the presence of Adrián Quiroz Osorio, mayor of Tizimín, and Pablo Gamboa Miner, general director of the Yucatán Energy Agency, the state executive reiterated that these types of projects are key to the Mayan Renaissance, as they allow us to move towards a sustainable development model, where innovation, technology, and respect for natural resources are the pillars of progress.

“Today we celebrate more than an investment: we celebrate the commitment to the present and future of Yucatán. A future where our communities have access to decent employment, clean energy, and better opportunities.
