MEXICO CITY.- In a coordinated operation between various Mexican authorities, a criminal cell dedicated to human trafficking and document forgery was dismantled.

The operation was carried out in Mexico City, the State of Mexico, and Nayarit, where the leader of the organization, Carlos Mario “N”, originally from Colombia, was arrested along with nine other people who collaborated with him. Six of them had arrest warrants and three were arrested in flagrante delicto.

The organization used a property in the Gustavo A. Madero district of Mexico City, as a base to house migrants of different nationalities before their transfer to the north of the country.

Under his command, the organization implemented a complex human trafficking scheme, bringing them into the country through Tapachula, Chiapas, or Merida, Yucatan, and then transporting them to states such as Colima, Nayarit, and Baja California.

During the operations, the authorities seized documents related to human trafficking, stamps, electronic devices, a Glock firearm with ammunition and a substance possibly identified as the drug known as “Tusi.”

In addition, a Guatemalan migrant was released in Tepotzotlán, State of Mexico.

The investigation revealed that the organization had a hierarchical structure and a network of contacts in different countries, which allowed them to coordinate human trafficking efficiently.

It was reported that the detained persons will be placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office so that the crimes committed can be investigated and the corresponding responsibilities determined.
