Banks are closed today, Thursday, December 12, as it is bank employee day in Mexico.

Due to the celebration of Bank Employee Day, this Thursday, December 12, bank facilities in Mexico will remain closed.

According to the calendar of the national banking and securities commission in the country, today is a day off for bank workers.

Counter operations resume regular hours this Friday, the 13th of this month.

Bank Employee Day was established in 1952 by the Congress of the Union, and the date was chosen because banks were accustomed to closing so that their employees could participate in the festivities of the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

But the origin of this celebration dates back to 1929 when the Association of Banks of Mexico (ABM) was created, an organization that has been a pillar of the development and regulation of the banking sector in the country.

Since then, December 12th has been dedicated to banking professionals at all levels, from tellers to managers, including each and every employee of banks and financial institutions.

Happy Bank Employee Day!
