Influenza vaccination campaign continues in Yucatan

The Government of the State of Yucatan, through the Yucatan Health Secretariat (SSY), invited the population to maintain the pertinent care for the 2024-2025 winter season and recalled that the influenza vaccination campaign for this season is underway, which contemplates a goal of 632,437 doses and aims to protect the vulnerable population from severe forms of this disease.

He stressed that this preventive action is focused on the Pediatric Population from 6 to 59 months of age, adults 60 years of age and older, health personnel, pregnant women, and the population from 5 to 59 years of age, with comorbidities such as congenital and chronic heart or lung diseases.

The SSY invited people with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, morbid obesity, chronic lung disease, including COPD and asthma, cardiovascular disease, except essential arterial hypertension, people with kidney failure, congenital or acquired immunosuppression due to disease or treatment, people with cancer and people living with HIV / AIDS to get vaccinated.

The agency reported that for this 2024-2025 season, the tetravalent seasonal influenza vaccine will be used, which will be available in all institutions that make up the state’s Health Sector, and thanks to the coordinated effort of all health sector institutions that participate to ensure that these actions contribute to protecting the health and well-being of the population of risk groups, such as the Imss Ordinary Regime, Imss Bienestar, and the ISSSTE.

Finally, the SSY detailed that said influenza vaccination campaign registers a progress of 44% in a cut-off made to the epidemiological week number 7 of vaccination.
