The State Coordination of Civil Protection (Procivy) reported that from the afternoon of Wednesday, December 11, the effects of a new Cold Front will begin to be felt in the state.
This new cold front will bring moderate winds and rain accompanied by electrical activity and, later, due to the mass of cold air that drives it, will cause a drop in temperatures from Friday to Sunday, December 15.
According to the State Monitoring and Alerting System (Sema), the passage of the Cold Front will cause a “northern” event, with gusts of wind of 60 to 70 km/h in the coastal zone, in addition to high waves of 1.5 to 4 meters, which is why it is necessary to pay attention to the instructions issued by the maritime and port authorities regarding the closure of ports.
In the rest of the state, the winds will be between 40 and 50 km/h. Moderate rainfall is also expected, accompanied by electrical activity and gusts of wind throughout the region.
Due to the cold air mass that drives this front, we will have a drop in temperatures starting on Friday, December 13, with minimum records of 11 to 13°C in the municipalities of the southern cone, 13 to 17°C in much of the state and 18 to 20° on the Yucatan coast. Procivy emphasizes that to report any incident, the number 9-1-1 is available to citizens 24 hours a day.
