On the occasion of the festivities of the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the Municipal Police of Mérida (PMM), in coordination with the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), will have a security and road operation in the surroundings of the San Cristóbal neighborhood.
This corporation will assign police officers for Wednesday, December 11, and Thursday, December 12. These officers will be dedicated to road and protection work in the area’s surroundings.
During those days, the PMM will install a module on one side of San Cristóbal Park. In it, paramedics will support people who require it, as well as agents to safeguard the safety of attendees.
On Wednesday, December 11, starting at 6:00 p.m., traffic will be closed on 50th Street from 67th to 71st and 69th Street from 46th to 52th.
The alternative circulation routes will be: to the west, streets 60th and 62th; to the east 42th and 44th; to the south 71th; and the north 65th and 63th.
Citizens are asked to take into account that on that date and the days before, the processions and anarchists (torch bearer pilgrims who run to the San Cristobal parish in honor of the Virgin) will be traveling through different streets of the city seeking to reach the Church of San Cristóbal (50th street between 67th and 69th, center), in such a way that they are urged to protect the integrity of people and travel with caution and patience when encountering them.
