In an atmosphere of harmony and celebration, the mayor of Mérida, Cecilia Patrón Laviada, lit the first Christmas tree in the city with the help of the people of Mérida.
She stressed that rescuing the life of San Cristóbal Park was a priority for the City Council and returning the Christmas atmosphere was the expected opportunity.
“From this park where dozens of pilgrimages arrive and which is also emblematic for the citizens, we decided that it could look beautiful for the enjoyment of the neighbors,” she celebrated.
Dozens of families attended the traditional lighting, where they enjoyed an atmosphere that announced the best date of the year: Christmas.
From children to older adults gathered in this emblematic park, who, with looks of illusion and sparkle, admired the lights that illuminated the giant Christmas tree and other decorations such as the sleigh and the light tunnels.
This weekend, the lighting of other trees will be held, such as the one at the Remate de Paseo de Montejo. Emblematic pieces that unite Merida families in a December celebration.
