In coordination with state and federal forces, the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) completed a search warrant in a business in the Esperanza neighborhood, in the east of Mérida, during the early hours of this Wednesday, December 4.

One of the points searched by the authorities was a grocery store called “Doña Katy,” located on 59th Street between 26 and 28 of the aforementioned neighborhood, east of the Yucatecan capital.

It was discovered that the search warrant was granted by a state judge, and for that reason, the State Attorney General’s Office was in charge of carrying it out.

The National Guard (GN), the Secretariat of National Defense (Defense), the Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico (Navy), and the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) supported the operation.

The operation began at dawn and concluded in the early hours of the morning.

At first, there was no talk of detainees and it was found out that drugs of different types were found at the place so the place functioned as a point of sale for drug dealing.

But it was later found out that five people were arrested in the operation and less than five kilos of marijuana were seized. Therefore, the process will be carried out by the state authorities.

The premises were secured by the authorities and it is expected that, if there are people detained, they will be placed at the disposal of a Control Judge who will determine their legal situation.

Later, the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) released a statement about the operation in which it stated the following:

Five people were arrested and the seizure of natural and synthetic drugs is the result of the search carried out today by federal and state forces on a property on 59th Street, 28th, and 30th in the Esperanza neighborhood.

Four kilograms of marijuana distributed in plastic bags of different sizes, gummies that could contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), electronic cigarettes, and a replica of a long gun were seized.

Rosa Catalina S.S. and Roger Jesús C.K. were arrested as probable perpetrators of crimes against health. And the brothers Ángel de Jesús, Emir Rodrigo, and Johana Paulet C.S., who were placed at the disposal of the control judge who issued the search warrant.
