Steel beams fall in the middle of the Mérida-Tetiz federal highway

A tractor-trailer carrying heavy steel beams gave way and some fell in the middle of the road, without crushing a single vehicle on the Mérida-Tetiz federal highway.

This could even have caused other units to crash, but the operator and those driving at the time could turn on their lights in time to alert other nearby motorists, and thus avoid a tragedy shortly after 9 p.m. last Thursday, December 12th.

This similar incident also follows the second on the Mérida bypass that occurred last year.

On the other hand, the driver was heading towards Mérida, when the steel supports gave way in the middle of a curve, near kilometer 9 of the aforementioned federal stretch, allowing several heavy bases to crash into the pavement.

In the end, SSP authorities in coordination with the National Guard, were in charge of opening a lane for road traffic; as well as waiting for the cranes specialized in moving these enormous beams.
