Servicios Aéreos Ciclo is the name of the company that will make sure the Chichén Itzá International Airport will become the pivot of development in the east part of the state, according to the general director of that Yucatecan company, José Miguel García Vales.
The executive reported that this year this airport, in the municipality of Kaua, only receives private flights from Quintana Roo and serves as a school and training for pilots of three aviation schools, two for aircraft and one for helicopters.
However, it is ready to receive commercial flights in 2025 and there is also the opening of the Strategic Fiscal Enclosure with exemption from paying taxes for foreign trade.
Likewise, the promotion of tourism and the aerospace industry will trigger the economy of the region, he said.
The executive said that there are already two commercial airlines interested in flying to the Chichén Itzá terminal and he hopes that in 2025 they will materialize with the promotion and sale of tourist packages focused on this region due to the use of the Mayan Train and the new hotels near the archaeological sites.
The director predicted that the Chichén Itzá airport in the municipality of Kaua will be the logistics hub for air cargo in this region in the east of the state, “we hope that it becomes a reality next year, with the support of the national customs coordination.”
