Volaris transported 29 million 473 thousand passengers in all of 2024, 12% less than the previous year due to the overhaul of Pratt & Whitney engines on several of its Airbus aircraft.

Domestic passenger transport decreased 16%, with 21.7 million people; while international passengers increased 2.4% to 7.7 million travelers.

In a statement, Volaris detailed that its capacity decreased 4.5% year-over-year due to engine inspections, but in December the airline’s capacity was already slightly better than forecast, as they recovered more engines than anticipated.

In December 2024, Volaris transported 2.8 million passengers with an occupancy factor on its aircraft of 87.6%, an increase of 2.2 percentage points compared to the previous year.

“Compared to December 2023, we are now seeing greater stability across the network and in the return to service of aircraft that have completed required engine inspections. While we anticipate some continued fluctuations in the production of available seats by the number of miles flown, as engine inspections are completed, we remain committed to delivering a reliable network for our customers,” said Volaris CEO and President Enrique Beltranena.

“We are pleased with the execution of our strategy and continue to prioritize operational performance and network stability as we move forward with the engine inspections required by Pratt & Whitney.

“We remain committed to high levels of customer satisfaction and operational excellence, reinforcing Volaris as the preferred airline in its core markets,” he added.

The airline achieved a 99% schedule fulfillment factor for the full year in a challenging operating environment.
