The Progreso City Council, headed by Erik Rihani González, in coordination with the Culture Department, invites all Progreso residents and visitors to enjoy the traditional Rosca de Reyes (cutting of the Three Wise Men’s cake), which will take place this Monday, January 6, starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Casa de la Cultura.
This traditional rosca cutting is part of the season’s celebrations, a holiday that commemorates the visit of the three Wise Men; Melchor, Gaspar, and Baltazar.
This event aims to promote family togetherness, enjoy local talent and presentations, and celebrate together a unique opportunity to share special moments, preserve our traditions, and transmit this custom to new generations.
The mayor stressed the importance of preserving this tradition, pointing out that the rosca cutting is a special occasion in which families gather to enjoy this significant day.
The event will feature the participation of students from the Casa de la Cultura workshops, who will present the dances “El Mr. Grinch” and “Burrito Sabanero”, led by Maestro José Luis Castillo Paredes, as well as “Feliz Navidad” and “Tengo lo que quiero” led by Dir. Emilio Vázquez Chi.
In addition, local dance academies will join the event, presenting spectacular shows.
