A civilian managed to thwart an attempted robbery at the Multiplaza on block 219 in Cancun, by confronting two criminals who tried to rob him of the money he had just withdrawn from a BBVA branch.

According to preliminary reports, the events occurred around 12:20 on Tuesday, January 21, when the victim was intercepted by two men riding a motorcycle, who threatened to take his belongings.

However, in an act of bravery, the man struggled with the assailants, managing to snatch the keys to the motorcycle they were riding. To prevent them from fleeing, the man threw the keys into a nearby sewer, forcing the criminals to abandon their motorcycle, a red motocross bike, and run away.

The incident was reported to the 911 emergency number, which mobilized agents of the Municipal Police and agents of the Robbery Unit of the State Attorney General’s Office, who cordoned off the area to begin the corresponding investigations.
