The event, led by Admiral Raymundo Morales Ángeles, head of the Semar, and Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena, represents a key advance in strengthening the port infrastructure, guaranteeing the competitiveness of one of the most important ports in Mexico.

Morales Ángeles stressed that this project is part of the vision of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to “strengthen national maritime power through its maritime and port capabilities.”

He also highlighted that the modernization and expansion of the port will increase the capacity to receive larger ships.

The Admiral emphasized that this project will generate economic benefits for coastal communities, providing development opportunities for the population, especially young people.

He also assured that Progreso will become an important commercial, tourist, and industrial center that will strengthen the link with the United States.

Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena highlighted that, with a historic investment of 7.9 billion pesos, the result of collaboration between the Federal Government, the State Government, and the private sector, we are ensuring a positive impact for present and future generations.

From the loading and unloading area of the warehouse of dock 3, Díaz Mena highlighted that this port, expanded by 80 hectares and with greater draft, will allow the arrival of large vessels and the development of new terminals.

This project contemplates the expansion of the port with an additional 80 hectares, increasing its operational capacity to 116 hectares and consolidating itself as the key port in the southeast of Mexico. In addition to strengthening the logistics infrastructure, it will boost economic competitiveness by attracting investments and generating quality jobs.
