The Tocando Corazones group in Yucatán will celebrate its tenth anniversary with a solidarity activity: bringing dinners and support to relatives of patients in hospitals in Mérida.
Angélica Uribe, coordinator of the group, explained that this Saturday, January 18 at 7:00 p.m. volunteers will meet to distribute food at the Dr. Agustín O’Horán General Hospital and the Ignacio García Téllez (T-1) and Benito hospitals. Juárez García of the IMSS.
The distribution will begin at 7:15 p.m. and will focus on the emergency rooms and the surrounding areas of these hospitals. The activity seeks to provide a moment of relief to people waiting for medical news about their loved ones.
Uribe explained that those who wish to join can collaborate in various ways, such as by donating pizzas, breads, soft drinks, juices, rice pudding, or coffee.
You can also help as a volunteer by helping to distribute food and listening to people.
Food must be delivered in individual bags to avoid physical contact and reduce the risk of infection. In addition, participants are recommended to wear face masks as a biosafety measure.
For a decade, Tocando Corazones has carried out these activities not only on anniversaries but throughout the year. Through its social networks, the group encourages citizen participation in support of those who need it most.
“We want people not only to donate but to learn this dynamic and replicate it with friends and family,” said Uribe.
