Vicente M. C., 56, was preparing a ‘bazooka’ (fireworks) that exploded in his face.
The unfortunate events occurred on the night of January 19, during the celebration of the 63rd Anniversary of the founding of Popolnáh, a community in this municipality.
The now-deceased was responsible for lighting the fireworks, but suddenly something “went wrong” and the explosion occurred.
Eyewitnesses say that the man was lying face down on the floor and when they tried to help him they realized that his face was disfigured, and they immediately called the 9-1-1 emergency numbers.
The paramedics assessed him, but unfortunately, he no longer showed vital signs.
The site was secured for legal proceedings.
