In Mexico, 220 intentional homicides were officially registered during the first weekend of 2025

The SESNSP report establishes that in the first 5 days of this year, 322 people have been murdered, for an average of 64.4 cases per day.

Guanajuato leads the list with 30 cases, according to figures from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System.

During the first weekend of 2025, from Friday, January 3 to Sunday, January 5th, 220 people were murdered in the country, with 30 cases in Guanajuato as the first place on the list, according to figures from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP).

The state of Tabasco, where a massacre occurred on Saturday night at the bar “La Casita Azul” in Villahermosa, with a balance of 8 victims, was ranked second in terms of lethal violence, with 19 people killed during the weekend.

The State of Mexico followed it with 18 murders, Baja California with 17 cases; Nuevo Leon and Sinaloa with 14 intentional homicides per state; Chihuahua with 12 cases, and Michoacan with 11 murders.

In the states of Morelos, San Luis Potosi, and Sonora, 10 people were killed, per state; in Jalisco, there were 9 cases, in Guerrero, there were 7 murders; while in Mexico City, Puebla, and Quintana Roo there were 6 people killed, per state, during the weekend.

In Veracruz there were 5 intentional homicides; and in Oaxaca and Tamaulipas, 4 people were reported killed during this period.

The SESNSP report states that in the first 5 days of this year, 322 people have been murdered, for an average of 64.4 cases per day.
