Geovanna Campos Vázquez, head of the Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology and Innovation (Secihti) Yucatán, announced the installation of five universities in Yucatán that will turn key municipalities into authentic epicenters of knowledge and employment.
The following institutions aim to meet the most indispensable needs of the state, from health and security to port and cultural development:
The Rosario Castellanos National University in Kanasín.- It will open in August and will offer more than 50 careers. It is the first university in the municipality and its mission includes addressing social problems and promoting the human and technical development of the community.
Universidad de la Salud in Umán.– Designed to combat the medical deficit in the state, it will train specialists in areas such as nursing, radiology, and hospital administration.
Universidad del Mar in Progreso.- It will meet the demands of the maritime and port industries, training local talent to reduce the dependence on personnel from other states. It will be essential for the competitiveness of sectors such as shipyards and new port companies.
University of Security in Hunucmá.- It will focus on professionalizing security forces and addressing the growing needs in this area.
University of Culture in Mérida.- It will preserve and promote cultural traditions and expressions, positioning Yucatán as a reference in regional and national culture.
In addition to educational expansion, Geovanna Campos presented the creation of a digital agency in the state. This model will guarantee universal access to digital services, optimizing government processes and adapting them to the socioeconomic conditions of Yucatán.
