A young man was beaten and stabbed in a store in Umán after a man complained to him about sending text messages to his wife.
UMAN, YUCATAN.- A man was arrested and brought to trial after beating a young man and injuring him with a knife in the Santa Elena neighborhood of Umán, for which he must maintain precautionary measures.
The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) announced that the events occurred on January 4 when the accused identified as O.A.C.C. entered a store where the victim was shopping, whom he hit in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.
He then warned him to stop sending text messages to his wife and took out a knife, with which he injured the teenager, an act for which he was arrested.
The accused was brought to the hearing of the First Control Court in Umán, where the legal detention was ratified and the Prosecutor’s Office formulated the charge for the crime of qualified injuries.
The Control Judge ordered the link to the process justified after the evidence presented by the Prosecutor’s Office so a month was granted as a deadline for the closing of the complementary investigation.
Before concluding the hearing, the investigating prosecutors requested various precautionary measures in which it is established that the accused must periodically sign before the authority of Umán and may not leave Yucatán without judicial authorization.
He is also prohibited from approaching the victim, the complainant, and the witnesses, as well as their homes and work centers. Likewise, he will remain under surveillance by the State Center for Preliminary Measures and must wear the aforementioned electronic locator, for the entire duration of the process.
