Mexican actor Diego Luna failed to win the Golden Globe in the category of Best Supporting Actor on television for his outstanding performance in the series “La Máquina.” The award was given to Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano for his performance in “Shogun,” during the 82nd edition of the awards held in Beverly Hills.

Luna’s nomination placed him in a highly competitive category, where outstanding performances by Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Harrison Ford, Jack Lowden, and Spaniard Javier Bardem, the latter for his role in “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” also figured.

“I feel very happy and very excited about what this nomination means. It means that ‘La Máquina’ did very well and we have the opportunity to stand on this red carpet and remind you that this work is there, that it is worth seeing,” Luna told EFE from the red carpet of the event.

For the Mexican actor, this nomination has a particularly deep meaning, since “La Máquina,” distributed in the United States through Hulu since last fall, represents a personal project to which he has dedicated the last three years of his career.

“It feels very special that it is with this very personal project, which I do with my family and with the people I have been filming for up to 20 years,” said the actor, emphasizing the importance of recognition not only for his performance but also for the joint work of producers, actors, writers, and makeup artists who participated in the production.

During his speech on the red carpet, Luna also took the opportunity to highlight the work of his fellow nominees, specifically mentioning Javier Bardem and Ebon Moss, as well as the participation of Mexican actress Adriana Paz in “Emilia Pérez,” the film that received the largest number of nominations of the night.
