AMHY plans one thousand new hotel rooms in Yucatan.
With more than one thousand rooms planned for this year, Yucatan will take a firm step in the expansion of its tourist infrastructure, even though in 2024 hotel occupancy barely reached 64 percent, said the president of the Mexican Association of Hotels in Yucatan (AMHY), Juan José Martín Pacheco.
“Boutique hotels in Mérida, Valladolid and Izamal lead this transformation, promising to revolutionize the market,” he added.
He pointed out that, in 2024, the state closed with a total of 17,093 rooms and 709 registered lodging centers. However, the sector faced a complicated panorama due to occupancy levels below expectations for much of the year.
The growth in infrastructure responds to the constant construction of boutique hotels, and an upward trend in destinations especially in the state capital, Valladolid and Izamal, among others, due to the exclusivity and services they offer.
These new facilities have a capacity of 25 to 30 rooms each, helping to diversify the tourist offer in the state.
