In a joint effort between the National Port System Administration (ASIPONA) and the City Council of Progreso, rehabilitation and maintenance work began for access to the wooden dock, known as “El Deck,” reported the mayor, Ing. Erik José Rihani González.

The ASIPONA of Progreso, commanded by Admiral Felipe Solano Armenta, working in coordination with the City Council of Progreso, chaired by Mayor Erik Rihani, announced that the objective of these works is to strengthen the port and tourist infrastructure of the area.

Said works, said Admiral Solano Armenta, include the removal of mounds of sand, the replacement of floorboards, and the application of paint on the railing. These works will allow, together, to reopen access to the dock for Progreso residents and visitors.

Rihani González stressed that this coordinated effort will guarantee the safety and functionality of the dock. In addition, it will contribute to beautifying the place, especially given the upcoming carnival festivities.

He also indicated that, in coordination with ASIPONA, Public Services, and Ecology personnel, headed by Luis Ángel Estrada Alejandro, will review the electrical installation in the area to assess the damage caused by Hurricane Milton, which hit in October 2024 and affected “El Deck”.
