Thousands of new residents in Yucatán: INE reveals how many

The state of Yucatán stands out for the levels of security that it has managed to maintain, even though in other states the crime rates are high, which is why it makes sense that the latest report from the National Electoral Institute (INE) indicates that, for 7 months, thousands of people have requested their change of address from the entity.

The announcement of new residents in Yucatán was made by a member of the Federal Registry of Voters (RFE) in the state, Eliézer Serrano Rodríguez.

The agency official spoke about updating the Electoral Registry, and given the extraordinary election of the Federal Judicial Branch, on June 1, the INE invites people to its Citizen Service modules to register their new home address.

In a bulletin, it explains that if you do so, and you are interested in participating in the process of electing judges of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (PJF), you will be able to vote in the box corresponding to your current address.

In this context, Serrano Rodríguez highlighted that in Yucatán, after the election on June 2, 2024, and as of January 15, 2025, 52,836 changes of address processed with a generated credential were recorded.

Of this total of changes, 16,745, 32%, correspond to people from other states of the Mexican Republic.

In the same sense, 27,439 cases, 52%, were of people who were already registered in the Yucatan electoral registry and when they changed their address they modified their electoral section, which means that now they will vote in a different box than the one they used to come. This means that, although these people moved house, they did so within the same neighborhood or nearby area, so they will vote in the same previously assigned box.|
