Tizimín has great potential to grow as an important national and international destination in the religious tourism segment, due to its impressive history and being a place where the Three Wise Men are venerated, which represents an important celebration on January 6, which attracts thousands of people to visit the sanctuary of Melchor, Gaspar and Baltazar, patron saints of this town.
The Secretariat for Tourism Development will include Tizimín in the national and international promotional actions, for having cultural, historical, and natural attractions, as part of the programs that will be undertaken in coordination with the municipal governments.
Sefotur highlighted the qualities of this city, which in the framework of the religious festival holds its Livestock, Artisanal, and Cultural Fair of Tizimín, to show the production of this land, culture, and tradition of this municipality located in the east of Yucatan.
The Ministry of Tourism Development stressed the importance of promoting actions that allow this municipality to be promoted on the country’s religious tourism map, as one of the main religious festivals, because Tizimín is home to the second most important sanctuary in the world and the first in Latin America, dedicated to the Three Wise Men.
