Environmentalists denounce illegal logging in Tulum for the construction of a road without permits.

The work is located near Bahía Solimán, an area where acts of environmental damage have been recorded.

The environmental group “Sélvame del Tren” denounced the opening of a road in Tulum to connect with the train, but without environmental impact permits that put the ecosystem at risk again.

José Urbina Bravo, founder of Sélvame del Tren, said that he seeks to show this new situation of damage because the jungle is being cut down again.

This road is located near Bahía Solimán, Tulum, right where acts of environmental damage have been recorded and starts towards the west. According to Urbina Bravo, the intention is to connect the Maya Train with the Cobá-Tulum highway.

“This road is currently under construction in the cenote area, in the middle of the jungle, and will link the highway with Cobá, putting an entire jungle complex in danger,” Urbina Bravo.
