The president of the Federation of Fishing Cooperative Societies of the Central-West of the State, Mariano Canul Uicab declared that a new cold front, which apparently would be very intense, would close the Yucatecan coast starting today, Wednesday, until the end of the week, suspending the capture of lobsters.

He pointed out that there was a cold front that entered the State last weekend but it was not so intense, it did not affect the capture of lobster, nor was there a need to close the ports to smaller vessels.

He reiterated that they are already a few days away from finishing the capture of lobster, only the fishermen of the Central-West continue with that fishery, since on February 1, the fishermen of the East of the State gave advance notice of the end of the capture of the crustacean.

Canul Uicab recalled that the capture of lobster began on July 1, 2024, and ends on February 28, 2025, they hope to finish with more than 500 tons reached; Unfortunately, the price was very low as last year for the social sector and the industrial sector.
